Greg was born in Ada, met his wife, Ashley, during college, and now they’re proudly raising their family in Ada too.
Greg’s kids, Addison, Reagan and Carl, attend the same Ada Public Schools that Greg, his siblings and his father attended as children. Ashley is a PTA president.
After graduating from Ada High School in 1992, Greg earned a bachelors degree from OCU and a Masters of Divinity from Asbury Theological Seminary.
Greg is a Sunday School Teacher at Trinity Baptist Church, Ada.
After graduating from college, Greg entred full time ministry, pastoring a church in Norman for several years.
Greg always had a heart for seniors, and he was eventually led to become a Chaplin for an Oklahoma City Hospice. Sensing a call to return, serve and raise his family in his hometown, Greg opened McCortney Family Hospice in 2004 and McCortney Family In-home Care in 2008, which he continues to run, employing dozens of workers across south central Oklahoma.
Greg was a member of the Ada City Council from 2011 to 2016, serving as Mayor in both 2012 and 2013. During his leadership, Ada enjoyed significant economic growth, and Greg was a strong advocate for fiscally prudent decision making.
Greg is the former Chairman of the Ada Chamber of Commerce and served on several state Hospice and Home Care Boards and the State Water Quality Management Advisory Council. He was a member of Leadership Oklahoma Class XXVIII.
